This is a step in the process of creating a new heel design. In this case I brought the factory a wooden prototype. It's a seperate factory that just engineers and create heels, a tacchificio. They in turn will possibly do a 3D print or some other kind of the proposed heel to make sure the dimensions look perfect. From there they create 4 different molds. One for every 2 sizes. A heel has to be engineered differently for a size 6 compared to a size 11. Then with a steel spine down the center for strength they can mold a working heel. If you notice the shoe itself is built on a grey last (forme) which I'll talk about at in another blog post.
